Simmons Genuine 8847 Brass Packing Nut

The 8847 is the packing nut for the Simmons yard hydrant models 800, 4800, and 5800. The packing nut sits over top of the extension rod, and holds the packing washers in place. If you are having a leak from around the bottom of the packing nut, it can usually be resolved by tightening the nut down. If tightening the nut does not work then the packing o-rings would need to be replaced. This packing nut will have a hex head on the top of it in order to make tightening, or loosening it as easy as possible.
