The plunger threads onto the bottom of the long pump rod. It will seat into the valve body underground forming a watertight seal to prevent the water from leaking out of the hydrant.
SHUT-OFF
ADJUSTMENT:
1. Loosen the square-head set-screw. (If hydrant has a flow lock wheel, loosen it.)
2. Raise the handle to about 90 degrees or to where the handle is parallel to the ground.
3. Tighten the square- 90° head set-screw and close handle.
4. Open hydrant all the way to allow full flow of water. Then shut off flow and hold your finger lightly over the outlet (you should feel slight suction on your finger). If there is no suction or if hydrant leaks from hose adapter, repeat steps.
