The Simmons 8832SS is a 3/4 inch valve body made out of stainless steel. It is made for the Simmons 800, and 4800 yard hydrants. The stainless steel valve body is recommended for areas that have highly corrosive deposits in the water. The small hole located near the center of the valve body is referred to as the weep, or drain hole. The purpose of the weep hole is to insure that all of the water drains from the hydrant once it has been shut off. This is to help prevent water from being trapped inside of the hydrant, or head. The end of the valve body that has the hexed shape is the end that connects the hydrant to the plumbing, and the rounded top side connects the hydrant to the valve body.
